Keeping the tradition of making slim models of its PlayStation (PS) consoles, Sony has announced a slim variant of its much sought after PS5 console.
Like the PS2, PS3 and PS4 Slim variants, which were thinner than the original “fat” consoles, the PS5 Slim is a smaller, lighter, and cheaper version of the PS5, with some notable changes and improvements.
Sony says the PS5 Slim has received a volume reduction of more than 30%, and weight reduction of 18% and 24% compared to the previous models. The console has four separate cover panels, with the top sporting a glossy look, while the bottom sports a matte finish.
The PS5 Slim offers an option to add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive to the PS 5 Digital Edition, and also features a storage upgrade of one TB SSD, up from the initial 825GB SSD the base PS5 model launched with. This expansion provides users with increased storage for games and applications, quicker load times and enhanced performance.
The PS 5 Slim will include technology features available on the original PS5, such as ray tracing, adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, Tempest 3D AudioTech, and more.
The PS5 Slim will be available for purchase at select retail stores from 10th November.
