Sonatel Group, a subsidiary of global telecommunications giant Orange, has appointed Brelotte Ba as its new Chief Executive Officer. Ba succeeds Sékou Drame, who has led the company since 2018 and will conclude his tenure on July 31, 2025.
The Senegalese national telecom announced that Ba, with 24 years of telecommunications experience, will steer the company toward maintaining its leadership in Africa’s digital economy and advancing digital transformation across the continent. His appointment follows a distinguished tenure as Deputy Managing Director of Orange Middle East and Africa since 2022.
A graduate engineer from Ecole Polytechnique de Paris and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, Ba has built an illustrious career within the Sonatel Group.

His roles have included Management Controller of Sonatel Group, Director of Commercial Marketing and Communications for Orange Guinea, General Manager of Orange Bissau, Director of Operators and International Relations at Sonatel, General Manager of Orange Guinea, and General Manager of Orange Mali.
These positions have equipped him with deep expertise in operations, marketing, and strategic leadership.
Sonatel’s board expressed confidence in Ba’s ability to drive innovation and sustain the company’s pivotal role in Africa’s telecom sector. As the new CEO, he is tasked with reinforcing Sonatel’s market dominance and fostering digital inclusion across its operational regions.
