Safaricom Foundation, the CSR arm of Safaricom PLC has distributed items to new mothers at the hospital’s maternity wing on its visit to Mbagathi County Referral Hospital in Nairobi.
As outlined in the Foundation’s strategy of enhancing maternal and child health, the purpose of the distributed mama packs would ensure good health and support to both mothers and newborn children.
The Foundation aimed to help mothers and their newborns with the essentials needed after giving birth, such as diapers, and sanitary towels, along with providing a guide on how to care for their infants.
The initiative had the company of Safaricom PLC board members including Karen Kandie, Ory Okolloh and Raisibe Morathi, as well as Fawzia Ali, the Chief Consumer Business Officer of Safaricom PLC, and Karen Basiye, the Director of Sustainable Business and Social Impact, during the exercise.
Recently the Foundation made a similar donation in Eshu Dispensary in Msambweni, Kwale County, where they donated a new borehole. The borehole, which cost KES 2 million, will provide clean water to the facility and the nearby community. Safaricom PLC Chief Human Resources Officer Paul Kasimu FIHRM and Kwale County Governor H.E. Fatuma Achani attended the handover ceremony.
