In a strategic move to enhance global satellite connectivity, Orange has announced a commercial partnership with Telesat, a leading satellite operator, to leverage Telesat’s advanced Lightspeed Low Earth Orbit (LEO) network.
Under the agreement, Orange will host a Telesat Lightspeed Landing Station at its Bercenay-en-Othe teleport in France. This station will connect to a point of presence (PoP) in Paris via the Orange Wholesale International Private Line (IPL). The telecom giant has also signed a capacity commitment for Telesat Lightspeed’s LEO services, which will be integrated into Orange’s global portfolio for businesses and telecom operators.
Expanding Connectivity and Network Resilience
The collaboration aims to expand Orange’s satellite solutions in critical areas such as mobile backhauling, crisis response, and remote connectivity, ensuring enhanced service delivery even in underserved regions.
Emmanuel Rochas, CEO of Orange Wholesale International, welcomed the partnership, underscoring the strategic importance of their teleport facility.
“I’m greatly honored that Telesat has chosen Orange’s Bercenay-en-Othe Teleport as the first European gateway for their Telesat Lightspeed network. This partnership reinforces our expertise as a space network operator and strengthens our ability to offer world-class ground infrastructure for advanced satellite constellations,” Rochas said.
He further emphasized how the partnership will enhance network resilience and improve connectivity in challenging environments.
Glenn Katz, Chief Commercial Officer at Telesat, highlighted the collaboration’s potential to deliver reliable, high-speed connectivity across Europe, Africa, and beyond.

“This strategic partnership highlights our commitment to delivering resilient connectivity solutions through our advanced, fully integrated space and terrestrial infrastructure. We are honored that Telesat Lightspeed will improve connectivity for Orange’s customers,” Katz stated.
Advanced Satellite Solutions with Robust Security
A key feature of Telesat’s Lightspeed network is its Carrier Ethernet services, offering enterprise-class, resilient connectivity supported by service level agreements (SLAs). Telecom operators can monitor and adjust services in real time, ensuring greater flexibility without requiring satellite operator intervention.
The Lightspeed network also adopts a Zero-Trust Security Architecture, aligning with the latest industry security standards to safeguard data transmissions.
Orange operates ground stations across 26 countries and territories, and its Bercenay-en-Othe teleport, certified WTA Tier-4, will play a central role in this partnership. This collaboration bolsters Orange’s multi-orbit satellite portfolio, offering secure, low-latency connectivity solutions to a global customer base.
