Orange Africa and Middle East (OMEA) has solidified its position as a key driver of digital transformation in the region, reporting a 28% surge in its fiber optic internet subscriber base to 1.4 million by the end of 2024, according to the company’s 2024 Corporate Responsibility Report.
Operating in 17 countries, including 16 in Africa, Orange now provides fiber internet services in ten markets, fueled by a $1.4 billion investment in network infrastructure last year.
The company’s aggressive push into fixed and mobile networks, including next-generation technologies, has connected 4.9 million homes with fiber optics across the region by December 2024.
This expansion aligns with growing demand for broadband connectivity among individuals and businesses. “For Orange, creating sustainable value means enabling as many people as possible to access connectivity, an essential digital service,” the company stated in its 2024 integrated annual report.

“We deploy and operate fixed and mobile networks across Africa and the Middle East, offering optimized global networks and next-generation solutions for businesses, operators, and content providers.”
Orange’s focus on fixed broadband, including fiber, ADSL, and radio networks, has been a cornerstone of its growth strategy. In July 2024, the company announced a €125 million ($145.5 million) investment to connect 800,000 additional homes to fiber by 2025, aiming to reach 1.3 million fiber customers.
An additional €100–200 million will bolster international connectivity, particularly through submarine cables. Orange’s fiber services span Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, complemented by 1.6 million households with 4G/5G fixed wireless access and nearly one million connected via ADSL.
This strategic expansion drove a 19.5% increase in fixed broadband revenue in 2024, contributing to OMEA’s total revenue of €7,683 million—an 11.1% rise from 2023. Representing 19% of Orange’s global revenue, the region underscores the company’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and fostering sustainable connectivity across Africa and the Middle East.
