Vodacom Group has appointed Mohamed Abdallah as the new chief executive officer of Vodacom International Markets and Vodafone Egypt, marking a significant step in the company’s Vision 2030 strategy to streamline operations and drive growth across Africa.
Abdallah, previously the CEO of Vodafone Egypt, will now oversee Vodacom’s operations in Egypt, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Lesotho, Mozambique, and Tanzania.
This unified leadership structure aims to enhance operational excellence and deliver on Vodacom’s strategic priorities, the company announced. The CEOs of Vodacom DRC, Lesotho, Mozambique, and Tanzania will report directly to Abdallah, who in turn will report to Vodacom Group CEO Shameel Joosub.
“Mohamed is a seasoned executive with a proven track record in delivering strong commercial results,” Joosub said. “His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to scale our international portfolio and embed our purpose-led strategy across the continent.”
Abdallah succeeds Diego Gutierrez, who stepped down at the end of April after seven years as chief officer of international business. Joosub expressed gratitude for Gutierrez’s contributions, wishing him well in his future endeavors.
