Following information for a while, we’ve known that a VPN was on its way to Microsoft Edge, and now it looks like the parent company is ready to begin the rollout to users who aren’t enrolled in the Insider program.
According to the company recent announcement for testers to try out, the Microsoft Edge VPN allows users to remain private when browsing the web, though there’s one major catch.
The feature doesn’t come with unlimited traffic, as Microsoft will only offer 1 GB of data per month – right now, the limit for insiders is 15GB, but once the VPN goes live for everybody, Microsoft will drop it to 1GB.

German site Dr. Windows (via Neowin) has spotted that Microsoft quietly started the rollout of the Microsoft Edge VPN in the stable channel, with an official announcement very likely to land sooner rather than later.
Microsoft’s VPN service is powered by the Edge Secure Network, which offers three modes to protect your privacy when you browse the web. The “All Sites” setting is the one recommended for all users who don’t want to leave any data behind, but on the other hand, it’s also the one that’s going to eat up most of the traffic.
“Secure Network helps you protect your information by masking your device’s IP address, encrypting your data, and routing it through a secure network (powered by Cloudflare) to a server that is geographically co-located so it’s harder for malicious actors to see your true location and what you’re doing.
Additionally, it also prevents your internet service provider from collecting your browsing data, like details about which websites you visit, and helps prevent online entities from using your IP address for profiling and sending you targeted ads,” Microsoft explained when it announced the VPN.
For users and testers, you can enroll in the Insider program incase you are interested in trying out the VPN service.
