Leah Nakazwe Kooma has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia, effective April 1, 2026, as the company strengthens its leadership to accelerate digital infrastructure growth in the country.
The announcement was made by Liquid Intelligent Technologies, a subsidiary of Cassava Technologies, which said the appointment underscores its commitment to expanding connectivity and digital services across Zambia and the broader Southern African region.
Kooma takes over from Mwendamo Mazaba, who served in an acting capacity and led the business through key initiatives, including the rollout of SME-focused digital portals and public Wi-Fi projects.

Commenting on the appointment, Wellington Makamure highlighted Kooma’s extensive experience and leadership track record.
“With over two decades of experience across telecommunications, financial services, and media, Kooma’s leadership is pivotal at this stage for the Zambia business. Her proven ability to deliver results will drive the next phase of growth,” he said.
Kooma brings more than 20 years of cross-sector experience, having started her career at Barclays Bank before moving to Celtel, where she worked across several African markets. She later joined Vodafone Zambia in 2016 as part of its founding team, serving as chief sales and distribution officer and playing a central role in launching the country’s first 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network.
In 2017, she transitioned to MultiChoice Zambia, where she held multiple leadership roles, including GOtv commercial general manager, chief customer officer, and eventually managing director.
Speaking on her appointment, Kooma expressed confidence in the company’s future trajectory.
“I have watched from the terraces as the business has evolved over the years, and I believe that, together with my team, we can take it to the next level,” she said.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Development Studies from the University of Zambia and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Wales. Kooma also serves on several boards, including as board chair of the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, and is a member of the Institute of Directors and Business Professional Women International.
Her appointment comes at a time when Liquid is intensifying efforts to bridge Zambia’s digital divide, with a focus on expanding home connectivity and delivering managed services to both public and private sector clients.
