Kenya’s Education Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Ezekiel Machogu, has announced plans to increase the government’s partnership with Microsoft to incorporate digital technology into the education system. During a visit by a Microsoft team to his Ministry of Education Jogoo ‘B’ offices, Machogu stated that the government aims to establish internet connectivity in all counties and sub-counties, creating opportunities for online jobs for the youth. The partnership will support the development of an open university, digital labs, and book-integrated systems.
“The government wants to establish internet connectivity in counties, sub-counties, and eventually all over the country in order to open space for online jobs for our youth”, said Machogu. He also urged ministry officers to prioritize the partnership’s implementation while adhering to the memorandum of understanding. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Company Director of Education in Africa, Angela Ng’ang’a, expressed the company’s commitment to expanding its partnership with the Ministry. “We have successfully worked with several agencies under the Ministry of Education in areas of digitization and automation…we can only increase our areas of partnership”, Ng’ang’a said.
