Leading telecommunications provider in Kenya, Safaricom PLC, has launched a new campaign dubbed ‘Feels Good to be Home,’ to promote the adoption of home internet solutions. The campaign showcases various fixed internet offerings along with value-added services to enhance the overall home experience for customers.
In a press release published on 2nd December, the company noted that as part of the initiative, it has introduced revamped Family Share plans, integrating home fibre with mobile voice, data, and SMS into comprehensive packages. This enables customers to enjoy seamless connectivity both at home and on the go.
Under the Family Share plans, customers can upgrade their Home Fibre plans with additional benefits for a minimal cost. For an extra KES 800, customers receive 8GB data, 400 minutes, and 1,000 SMS. Spending KES 1,800 provides 17GB, 1,000 minutes, and 2,000 SMS, while KES 2,700 offers 27GB, 1500 minutes, and 3,000 SMS. These plans also include free WhatsApp and can be shared with up to 5 household members.
CEO of Safaricom PLC, Peter Ndegwa, commented on the new offerings, stating, “we began our Home Internet journey in response to demand from our customers for fast and reliable connectivity at home. With increasingly digital lifestyles, our latest offerings seek to leverage our network coverage to cater to our customers’ evolving needs both in and out of the home.”
In a bid to make home internet accessible to those in non-fibre-ready areas, Safaricom has reduced the price of 4G routers to KES 2,999 from KES 6,999. Additionally, customers in 5G zones can now enjoy 5G Wi-Fi with routers retailing at KES 9,999.
As part of the ‘Feels Good to be Home’ campaign, Safaricom Home Fibre customers gain access to SecureNet, a comprehensive online security service offering protection against online threats. SecureNet comes with features such as anti-phishing, anti-virus, parental control, and quiet time settings.
Customers can purchase Home Fibre or 4G and 5G Wi-Fi plans through the MySafaricom App, by dialing *400#, or by visiting Safaricom Shops and Dealer Outlets.
