iXAfrica Data Centre Limited, East and Central Africa’s largest hyperscale, carrier-neutral, and AI-ready data center facility, has been selected as the host partner for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s (OCI) new public cloud region in Nairobi.
The collaboration marks a significant milestone in Kenya’s digital infrastructure development, enabling Oracle to deliver its cloud services locally through iXAfrica’s advanced facility. The OCI region in Nairobi was first announced by H.E. President William Ruto in January 2024, amid growing demand for high-performance cloud solutions across the region.
Oracle chose iXAfrica due to its readiness for immediate hyperscale deployments. The facility is purpose-built to meet global cloud standards, featuring carrier neutrality, high-density AI capabilities, resilient power systems, and close proximity to essential connectivity infrastructure—including abundant submarine and national networks. This positions iXAfrica as the only operational site in the market capable of supporting large-scale public cloud operations without delay.

“We are delighted to be in execution mode to bring OCI to Kenya,” said Snehar Shah, CEO of iXAfrica. “With this collaboration, iXAfrica is leveraging the renewable energy, talent, and abundant submarine and national connectivity available in our market.”
By hosting OCI locally, iXAfrica will allow organizations across East and Central Africa to accelerate digital transformation, run latency-sensitive applications, and develop AI-powered services closer to users. The partnership is expected to bolster a more resilient, sovereign, and competitive digital economy in Kenya, anchored in world-class infrastructure.
“Around the world, governments and enterprises rely on OCI for its security, scalability, and ability to run mission-critical workloads that enable innovation at scale,” said David Bunei, country leader for Kenya at Oracle. “These unique capabilities and our collaboration with iXAfrica will further support the growth of the country’s digital economy.”
