The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI) has commenced a two-day strategic workshop with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Information and Communication to discuss its 2025 program of activities, along with those of its affiliated agencies.
The workshop, aimed at fostering transparency, collaboration, and effective legislative support, brings together key stakeholders across the Ministry’s portfolio, including agencies such as the National Communications Authority (NCA), Cyber Security Authority (CSA), Ghana Post, National Information Technology Agency (NITA), Ghana Meteorological Agency, and the Data Protection Commission (DPC), among others.

Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), who formerly served as the Deputy Ranking Member of the Select Committee, reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to stakeholder engagement and outlined the government’s digital vision for 2025.
George revealed that the Ministry is in the process of drafting 15 new legislative instruments focused on emerging digital areas including cybersecurity, digital economy regulation, and data protection. These laws will be submitted to Parliament in phases for consideration and approval.
A major reform highlighted by the Minister includes the transformation of NITA into a dedicated regulatory body. Under this restructuring, its current operational and IT service-provider roles, including management of government ICT assets, will be handed over to a new implementing agency.

Addressing digital skills development, Hon. George emphasized that the One Million Coders Initiative will receive a boost through enhanced Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). Companies such as Huawei, MTN, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Oracle have been engaged to support specialized ICT training programs aimed at driving job creation.

The Minister also appealed to Parliament for increased support towards the rehabilitation of Community Information Centres (CICs) and the strengthening of local digital training hubs to expand access and inclusion across the country.
Also in attendance were the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. Alexander Yaw Arphul; members of the Parliamentary Select Committee; and directors and heads of the Ministry’s agencies, who contributed to detailed deliberations on the strategic roadmap for 2025.
