Extreme Networks has announced that it has integrated network fabric capabilities into its ExtremeCloud SD-WAN platform, allowing customers to securely connect various environments such as data centres, campuses and branch locations within a single platform. The new enhancements include automated workflows, simplified user interface and experience, improved visibility and control for better application performance. Customers can now automate tasks such as provisioning new sites and services, reducing fabric deployment time by over 90%, and enhancing network security through hyper-segmentation.
By integrating Extreme’s network fabric with ExtremeCloud SD-WAN, customers can extend network fabrics across new locations, manage the entire network through a single pane of glass and automate discovery and configuration of fabric-enabled switches and access points. This simplifies connections to new services, lowers costs and improves security, visibility and application performance. Moreover, administrators can increase network security by preventing lateral attacks and avoid costly security breaches.

ExtremeCloud SD-WAN also features streamlined workflows for planning, deployment and management that enable IT teams to perform tasks in minutes rather than hours. These workflows include automated SaaS application discovery, faster initial site configuration and deeper application performance visualisation. IT teams can quickly identify the root cause of issues impacting the user experience and make data-driven resolutions.
Additionally, Extreme has developed an automated, maintenance-free approach to connecting to major cloud services like AWS and Microsoft Azure without compromising visibility or performance management. Customers can connect to these services using IPSec tunnels, without installing or managing SD-WAN appliances or software in the cloud service provider’s environment. This simplifies connections to new services, reduces network bottlenecks and provides IT with greater control and visibility at both the application and network levels.
