Digital Afrique Telecom (DAT), a leading provider of digital solutions in West Africa, has partnered with European identity verification firm IDCanopy to introduce a comprehensive Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) platform designed to meet the latest compliance mandates issued by the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).
The collaboration aims to support financial institutions across the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) in aligning with BCEAO’s Instruction No. 001-03-2025, which strengthens anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorism financing (CFT), and customer due diligence (CDD) requirements.
The new solution integrates advanced features, including real-time screening for sanctions and politically exposed persons (PEPs), transaction monitoring, and automated audit trails—tools designed to help banks, fintechs, and microfinance institutions meet demanding regulatory standards.
According to DAT, the platform leverages artificial intelligence for document verification, biometric authentication, and integration with government-issued electronic IDs to automate the onboarding process while reducing fraud and processing time. It also supports Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES), which is compliant with European eIDAS and Swiss ZertES regulations, ensuring digital agreements carry full legal weight.

“Our partnership with IDCanopy reflects our commitment to secure, inclusive financial services in the region,” said DAT’s CEO, Simplice Anoh. “By combining our local expertise with their global compliance technology, we are enabling institutions to stay ahead of regulatory expectations while delivering faster, safer customer onboarding.”
Bernhard Reiterer, Founder and CEO of IDCanopy, described the partnership as a strategic bridge between European regulatory excellence and West Africa’s evolving financial ecosystem. “We are proud to provide scalable KYC tools tailored to regional needs while maintaining the highest global standards.”
The BCEAO has recently emphasized stricter compliance enforcement, including enhanced due diligence for PEPs, mandatory 24-hour suspicious transaction reporting, and regular audits of internal controls. The DAT-IDCanopy solution also supports BCEAO’s drive for digital identity verification through secure, remote onboarding tools that maintain accessibility.
