Dell Technologies has highlighted a 600% increase in cyberattacks in Africa over the past two years. According to their report titled ‘Keep Your Business Cyber Safe,’ 90% of businesses on the continent lack necessary cybersecurity protocols.
Annually, cybercrime leads to a loss of $4 billion in Africa. The report also reveals that 52% of African companies feel unprepared to handle large-scale cyberattacks, with 88% of data breaches resulting from employee mistakes. Notably, a cybersecurity attack occurs every 11 seconds in the region. In 2020, ransomware impacted 61% of companies. Dell, together with CWG and Mistumi, presented the report during the ‘Tech-Driven Future: Building Tomorrow’s Innovations’ event, which featured engaging keynote speeches, panel discussions, live demos, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
