dSPACE Group has appointed Carsten Hoff as the new CEO of the company, effective from 17 April 2023. He succeeds Martin Goetzeler, who is resigning from his post at his own request.
Hoff comes from a research and development-centred environment with a degree in electrical engineering and a doctorate in computer science. He has international management experience and is said to be familiar with dSpace and the company’s products. Currently, Hoff is the managing director of CLAAS E-Systems. Before that, he worked in various management positions at the automotive supplier Hella. He will use his experience from his previous activities to set strategic impulses for dSpace and to further advance the new topics of software-based simulation and validation, the company says.
“I am very pleased to be joining the dSpace company. I am very impressed by the development of the company and the role of dSpace in the automotive industry. The values that the family-owned company dSpace stands for have convinced me,” said Dr. Carsten Hoff.

The co-founder and shareholder of dSpace, Herbert Hanselmann, who also is Goetzeler’s predecessor at dSpace’s helm, welcomed the new CEO. “With Dr. Carsten Hoff, an internationally experienced and technically skilled manager takes the helm, who is very familiar with the current challenges in our target markets. I wish him a good start in the company and with our customers,” said Hanselmann. At the same time, he expressed his regret at the departure of the current CEO Martin Goetzeler and thanked him for his important contribution to the development of the company.
Martin Goetzeler has led the company dSpace since 1 March 2018. Important milestones during this time were portfolio expansions in virtual and real simulation and validation in order to cover market and customer requirements end-to-end in a timely manner, especially in automated and autonomous driving and in software-defined vehicles. In addition to the great importance of software-in-the-loop simulation, technologies such as AI and cloud are now also used in the products. In parallel, he consistently built-up structures and processes that sustainably secure the strong global growth.
To ensure a smooth handover, Goetzeler will continue to be available to the new CEO in an advisory capacity after 17 April 2023.
