Batelco, a part of the Beyon Group, has partnered with the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and Bahrain Public Transport Company to launch a new service that will allow Prepaid and Lucky customers to recharge their Go cards via SMS text message. The service will enable both new and existing Batelco and Lucky customers to recharge their Go cards with the balance available in their Prepaid accounts. To avail the service, new customers can visit any Batelco or Lucky branch to sign up and receive a Go card with two free trips. Customers can then recharge their Go cards by sending an SMS with the required amount for the Bus fee along with their Go card number to 88188.

Aseel Matar, General Manager of Consumer at Batelco, said that the company is focused on delivering more value for its Prepaid customers by adding new convenient services. Batelco is the first and only telecom company in Bahrain to offer this new channel to top up the Go card, she added. The exclusive service will enable customers to use their Prepaid lines not only for communication purposes, but also for conducting other transactions. The partnership agreement was signed by Eng Hussain Ali Yaqoob, Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transportation, Aseel Matar and Robert Conway, General Manager of Bahrain Public Transport Company at Batelco’s headquarters in Hamala.
