The DigiTruck Ethiopia project, which enables the provision of digital skills training to Ethiopian students, is launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Huawei, and ICOG Anyone Can Code. Kenya has announced to the public it has commenced importing electricity from Ethiopia, receiving 75 megawatts from the Wolayta-Sodo substation, the Energy Petroleum and Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has revealed. EPRA Director General Daniel Kiptoo revealed that the country is still in the process of commissioning the trade but the process went live during the week. “We began power trade with Ethiopia yesterday. After the commissioning, our initial imports will be 150 megawatts then will upscale to 300 megawatts in the next three years,” said Kiptoo. UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education Stefania Giannini has said digital technologies, geared toward inclusion and equity, could transform the future of school systems and learning. “Harnessing technology and changing education models is imperative,” Giannini said as she addressed a side event about the UNESCO-Huawei “Technology-enabled Open Schools for All” project at the COP27 climate change conference in Egypt. Silicon Valley artificial intelligence (AI) computing startup SambaNova Systems has said it has delivered eight units of its latest AI system to the U.S. Argonne National Laboratory, which is expanding its AI offering to researchers. Each of the systems has eight DataScale SN30 chips, launched in September, and triples the speed of the previous generation.
