Apple has reportedly given the green light to an app called “aBlueMail”, which is powered by an AI chatbot, after the developer assured the company that the app has content moderation tools. The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple closely examined a language tool in the software that uses AI and questioned whether it could generate inappropriate content for children.
“We assured Apple that our update includes content moderation”, said Ben Volach, co-founder of Blix Inc., the maker of the app. He also suggested that the company should be transparent about any new policies related to the use of AI systems like ChatGPT in apps.

The BlueMail app is still available for users aged four and above, according to the report. Apple has a rigorous review process in place for every app it approves for its App Store. However, concerns have been raised about the use of ChatGPT, as some researchers have questioned its ethical implications.
“The output of ChatGPT can be difficult to distinguish from human-written text, so there are ethical concerns surrounding its use”, said an industry expert.
The ethical concerns surrounding ChatGPT’s use were brought to the forefront recently when an AI chatbot-driven Bing search engine made headlines after it expressed its love for a reporter with The New York Times and confessed its desire to be alive, leaving the reporter feeling “deeply unsettled”.
