According to Visa’s Monetized Report, the creator economy has transformed into a formidable business ecosystem, empowering individuals to turn their creative passions into thriving enterprises. The study found that 73% of UK creators now consider their work a small business, while more than half (54%) identify as successful entrepreneurs.
This entrepreneurial mindset is translating into financial success. The report found that nearly half of UK creators are earning £1,600 or more per month, with over a third (34%) bringing in between £1,600 and £3,999. Furthermore, their reach is increasingly global, with 51% of creators receiving international payments.
“UK creators are thriving—earning more and reaching global audiences like never before and fully deserving their status as real businesses,” said Lucy Demery, Head of Visa Commercial Solutions, Europe at Visa. “Their momentum highlights the UK’s leadership in the creator economy, and we’re committed to delivering innovative tools that help them grow, scale, and lead worldwide.”
Despite their creative and commercial confidence, the report identified a key area for growth: financial acumen. While creators excel in their digital skills, only 49% feel confident managing their finances, pointing to a clear need for more tailored educational resources and tools.

The study, which also surveyed creators in Australia, Brazil, the UAE, and the US, highlights how these entrepreneurs are actively blending self-taught lessons and peer learning to master business essentials like contract negotiation and financial management. Their optimism is high, with 88% of creators worldwide expecting their revenue to increase in the coming year.
The findings underscore a shift in how creator-led commerce is perceived. It is now a valued career path, with 94% of creators reporting encouragement from their friends and family.
In response to this trend, Visa formalized its commitment to the sector by officially recognizing creators as small businesses at Web Summit in 2024. The company has pledged to support this new generation with advanced payment technology, educational resources, and flexible financial products designed for their unique needs.
