A new vehicle has been showcased at the Dubai World Police Summit that looks like an ordinary car but is actually fitted with advanced technology designed to monitor and enforce road safety. The car has been developed by Tatweer, a technology company based in Abu Dhabi and features special lenses and modules that can detect violations of traffic laws.
According to Anas Al Zghoul, head of research and development at Tatweer MEA, the vehicle is equipped with “an integrated solution customised to assist and enhance surveillance, road security, law enforcement and crime prevention”. The device can be molded to fit any make or model of car and is capable of detecting speed, sudden swerving and even facial recognition.

Zghoul explained that the car is fitted with multiple cameras, including one for detecting wanted vehicles, one for facial recognition and one for speed detection. The system is also equipped with Edge processing at the rear and a speed detection camera on the bumper.
The device provides several features and functionalities, including facial recognition, speed enforcement, multi-user access, command and control center, violation detection, suspected vehicle identification and live tracking. The back-office system allows operators to remotely access a wide range of functions embedded into the in-vehicle system.
Zghoul further added that the system uses standard integration protocols and API’s, which enables interaction between different devices and legacy systems to be expandable with additional features and modules in the future.
