Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure, has announced that its 2.3 MW VertiCool Chip coolant distribution unit (CDU) has qualified as a NVIDIA DSX Ready CDU. The model is the first CDU to receive qualification specifically under the NVIDIA DSX Ready programme, which helps AI factory builders identify power and cooling products that meet applicable NVIDIA DSX requirements.
Vertiv is among the initial providers of qualified CDU solutions under the programme. The NVIDIA DSX Ready initiative is designed to give AI infrastructure developers a clearer way to evaluate specific infrastructure components as they plan increasingly complex facilities for large-scale AI workloads.
“The scale of AI deployment is forcing a more integrated approach to data center infrastructure,” said Scott Armul, Chief Product and Technology Officer of Vertiv. “Compute, power and cooling decisions can no longer be made independently. A constraint on any one of those systems can limit the performance and productive capacity of the entire facility. NVIDIA DSX Ready gives customers a more consistent basis for evaluating critical infrastructure within that larger design.”

Armul continued: “The qualification of Vertiv’s 2.3 MW CDU model reflects our continued focus on providing the thermal building blocks, engineering expertise and lifecycle support customers need as they plan and operate increasingly complex AI environments.”
Supporting High-Density AI Computing
A coolant distribution unit (CDU) controls the flow and temperature of liquid used to remove heat from high-density computing systems. Vertiv’s DSX Ready 2.3 MW model is part of its liquid-to-liquid CDU portfolio and supports both direct-to-chip cooling and rear-door heat exchanger applications. The unit is designed for installation at the end of a data centre row or along the room perimeter.
AI factories are data centres designed to develop and operate artificial intelligence models and applications at scale. As computing density increases, infrastructure developers must increasingly consider constraints involving power, cooling, water, sites and electricity grids when designing and expanding these facilities.
The NVIDIA DSX AI Factory Platform brings together compute, networking, power, cooling, facilities and software to support the design and operation of AI factories as an integrated system. The NVIDIA DSX Ready programme then connects specific products to applicable DSX requirements, with CDU providers using the NVIDIA CDU self-qualification suite to assess whether individual solutions meet the relevant functional requirements.
While NVIDIA DSX Ready qualification provides a basis for evaluating infrastructure products, it does not replace the engineering required for individual facilities. Customers must still determine how a qualified CDU fits into their specific data centre design, system configuration and operational requirements.
