Security professionals in India are grappling with the consequences of years of cybersecurity being an afterthought, as the country’s firms increasingly struggle with the complexity of multiple security solutions that do not work well with each other. Experts have said that rapid digital transformation, both during and post-pandemic, has forced companies to adopt a wide range of security solutions, leading to even greater difficulty for security pros in managing a company’s security posture.

As companies were pushed to rapidly adopt new technologies and digital-first approaches to allow remote working, endpoint security became a critical and widely deployed component in the security stack, according to Manish Sinha, Director Sales Engineering-India and SAARC at cybersecurity firm Trellix. Firms have deployed various solutions as new needs have arisen, resulting in complex security infrastructures with some solutions being siloed, potentially leading to blind spots, he added.
A typical cybersecurity stack comprises firewalls, prevention systems, endpoint protection and security information and event management (SIEM) systems. However, companies end up using multiple disjointed solutions that are not built to work with each other, thereby limiting security professionals’ ability to analyze threats and anomalies properly, experts have said.
