Vodafone and Three has initiated automatic network sharing for Vodafone and Three customers, leveraging Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) technology to deliver enhanced coverage, faster speeds, and fewer 4G not-spots at no additional cost.
The rollout, part of the company’s £11 billion investment to build the UK’s premier network, has already activated over 600 sites, with plans to integrate 9,000 more by the end of the first year following the Vodafone-Three merger.
The integration combines spectrum assets to expand 4G and 5G coverage, improve reliability, and increase capacity. Approximately seven million Three UK and Smarty customers have experienced 4G speed increases of up to 20% on average, with some areas seeing boosts as high as 40%.
By year-end, VodafoneThree projects that 71% of the UK population—around 50 million people—will access its fastest 5G services.
The initiative aims to eliminate 4G not-spots across 16,500 km of the UK, an area ten times larger than London, while enhancing peak-time performance by automatically redirecting customers from congested to less busy sites.

Andrea Donà, VodafoneThree’s Chief Network Officer, hailed the rollout as a “major milestone,” emphasizing its role in reducing not-spots and expanding 5G coverage through spectrum integration and MOCN technology.
All customers across VodafoneThree brands, including Vodafone, Three, Smarty, VOXI, and Talkmobile, are expected to benefit within 12 months as the company accelerates its nationwide rollout.
Donà underscored VodafoneThree’s commitment to delivering a new era of connectivity, with millions already experiencing improved performance just weeks into the program
