TechBerg Magazine has named Rasaq Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of WealthTech firm CowryWise as its Personality of the Week.
For someone who is immersed in numbers both in the classroom and in ‘real world’, being a technology guru may not seem like a significant achievement. However, one distinguishing fact about Rasaq Ahmed is that his versatility do not only cover knowing how to compute figures and how to navigate the computer system, but have gone beyond to create a system that proffers financial solution with the use of technology.
Educational Background and Career
Rasaq Ahmed is the Chief Executive Officer of Cowrywise, a financial technology startup which he cofounded in 2017. He was born and bred in the Northern part of Nigeria, kano precisely by his south-western originated parent.
He attended secondary school in a time where schooling and being involved in some form of manual labour or craft alongside was a norm. His university education was dependent on hustle and bustle here and there and being engulfed in repairing generators was part of it.
Life took great positive turn as he enrolled and attained a first-class degree in Obafemi Awolowo University in a Major in Economics.
Upon graduation in 2007, he took up a role the following year as an investment analyst at Meristem, later he switched to a research analytics role in Vetiva Capital Management Limited and stayed briefly. After there, he worked as a business economist before he got promoted to Gas commercial in shell petroleum development company. Rasaq Ahmed served as Start Partners’ Executive Director.

He went ahead to co-found the Fintech startup that facilitates savings and Investment in July 2017.
