Jaid, a London-based AI workflow startup has secured £3m in seed funding led by UK early-stage software investor Sure Valley Ventures.The startup’s software platform collects data from a business’s internal and external communications. It then organises this data to automate workflows in areas such as sales, client services, payment exception processing and claims administration processing. Apple Inc is preparing to allow alternative app stores on its iPhones and iPads in the European Union as soon as late next year to comply with a new European competition law it had fought, Bloomberg News reports. China is working on a more than 1 trillion yuan ($143 billion) support package for its semiconductor industry, three sources said, in a major step towards self sufficiency in chips and to counter U.S. moves aimed at slowing its technological advances. Airtel Africa has signed a new US$194-million loan facility with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which the company says it will use to connect new subscribers to mobile internet in several African countries. Global digital infrastructure company Equinix, Inc. today announced plans to enter the South African market with a US$160-million datacentre investment in Johannesburg, to augment its current footprint in Africa including Nigeria, Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. The new datacentre is expected to open mid-2024.
