Benya Group, a digital solutions provider, has signed an MoU with Khazna Data Centers, a UAE-based wholesale data center provider, to construct a 25 MW hyperscale data center in Maadi Technology Park. The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) announced on May 5th that the project would cost $250 million, covering the business of large-scale data centers in Egypt and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The project, which is the first of its kind in Egypt in terms of capacity and area, will be built on a 40,000-square meter area.

The project is part of Egypt’s plan to localize information technology and data center industries in the country, according to Hossam Heiba, CEO of GAFI. Ahmed Mekky, Chairman and CEO of Benya Group, stated that the agreement would increase their access to the hyperscale data center construction sector.
