MTN Uganda has reported a robust 37.7% rise in profit after tax for the first half of 2026, reinforcing the strong double-digit earnings momentum across MTN Group’s key operating companies ahead of the parent’s interim results.

“The improved performance reflects the resilience of our operating model, the strength of our customer base, and continued execution of our strategic priorities,” said Sylvia Mulinge, CEO of MTN Uganda. She noted that the business recovered from earlier operational disruptions and gained momentum in the second quarter.

“We remain confident in Uganda’s long-term growth prospects and are committed to creating sustainable value for our shareholders through disciplined investment, innovation and execution,” Mulinge added. “We maintain our medium-term guidance of delivering upper-teen service revenue growth, stable EBITDA margins above 50%, and capex intensity in the mid-teens as we invest prudently to meet licence obligations.”

The results continue the positive trajectory established in 2025, when MTN Uganda recorded a 13.6% increase in overall revenue driven by rising data and fintech usage.MTN Group, Africa’s largest telecommunications company, maintains separately listed operating companies across its footprint, giving regional investors direct exposure while offering clear visibility into group performance. The parent is scheduled to release its group-wide first-half 2026 interim results on 18 August.
