Eutelsat Group has officially launched its OneWeb Earth Station in Luanda, Angola, bringing high-speed, low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity to underserved and remote communities across Angola and Central Africa.
The new ground station, inaugurated today, marks a significant step toward bridging the digital divide in the region.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Angola’s Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies, and Social Communication, H.E. Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira; INACOM CEO, H.E. Joaquim Muhongo; and the UK’s Deputy Ambassador, H.E. Roz Griffiths. Eutelsat Group was represented by Afke Schaart, who participated in the ribbon-cutting event.

The Earth station activates Eutelsat’s LEO network, delivering fast and resilient internet access to support digital transformation in both urban and rural areas. This initiative aligns with Angola’s national priorities for inclusive economic growth and enhanced connectivity.
Eutelsat, a long-time provider of geostationary (GEO) satellite services in Angola, is now leveraging LEO technology to expand its reach. The company emphasized its commitment to deepening partnerships with Angola to provide future-proof connectivity solutions where they are most needed.
