Snap Inc has launched the web version of its instant messaging app Snapchat this year and made it free for all in September. Now, the company has debuted on the Microsoft Store with a Progressive Web App (PWA) for the Windows platform that works just like the web version.
Snap has always avoided Microsoft Store even when the company used to have Windows phones. But now things have taken a turn for Windows users that can now use Snapchat PWA to see stories, access messages, and get notifications on their laptops. Just like the web version, users can also take Snaps on the new web app using the webcam for whatever reason. Snapchat comes to the Windows Store

Snapchat Progressive Web App is built on the web version of Snapchat. The PWA is powered by Microsoft’s Chromium-based Microsoft Edge. According to Windows central, it is 1.4 MB in size and has the same features as the web version. However, since it works through Microsoft Edge, Windows will treat it like a native app and show it in the Start Menu.
Snapchat PWA requires Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating system on the computer. Just like the current web version of the app, the PWA is also free to download.
Snap Inc launched the web version of its app in July for Snapchat plus subscribers in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. At the time used to work only with the Chrome browser. However, it was soon made free for all. Users can head over to web.snapchat.com to access the web version.
